Presented here is the historic Hamm 1911 diesel powered road roller in 1:50th scale from Conrad. The model has been commissioned to celebrate 100 years since the 1911 was first designed by Hans Hamm. In an era of steam powered machines, the revolutionary 1911 road roller put the Hamm company firmly on the map and the company is still producing innovative and revolutionaly machines today, 100 years on.

The model is presented in a stiff cardboard box with a contoured foam inner to keep the model secure during shipping with a metal base plate with printing detailing the 1911 also supplied. The rollers of the model fits into the recessed areas on the base plate. The model is somewhat of a surprise and Conrad have done a great job of capturing this iconic machine with some very good detailing found throughout the model.

The large rear wheels have been cleverly constructed with the red plastic spokes looking very convincing, with grooves present on the inner edges where the main drive gears would connect to drive the machine forward. The chain link steering is another nice addition with replicated and non-functional gearing fixed to the side of the body leading up to the steering wheel in the operators area where additional levers and controls have been replicated.

The large curved canopy keeps the driver protected from the elements and the main chassis components show the large bolt details which were used in the day to hold the structures together. The large flywheel is painted red and contrasts well with the green paintwork of the structure.

Other added details include the roller cleaning blades connected to the main chassis on each side of the rear wheels and the rear, non functional cutting device while the front of the model has an authentically printed nameplate.
