Presented here is the 1:50th scale Liebherr R922 tracked excavator which has been produced by Conrad and follows the very nicely detailed A920 with equally impressive levels of detail and realism throughout.

The track frames have lower roller detailing cast into the structure with a pair of upper non-functioning rollers and tensioned idler wheels keeping the track pads taut while still allowing them to rotate. Each pad has triple grouser ridges and the track drive housings have bolt head detailing.

Fine hydraulic hose detailing is found throughout the model including raised piping on the boom and flexible hoses between the boom and stick. The range of movement of the boom, stick and bucket linkage are very good, mimicking that of the full sized machine well.

The upper structure rotates through 360 degrees with excellent printing of the engine grilles clearly showing the intricate honeycomb pattern. The main safety railings are metal and finished in a silver colour while grab rails attached to the cab frame are grey plastic with rear view mirrors needing to be attached.

The cab interior has been replicated well with an updated metal casting for the cabin frame that is an improvement over the all plastic A920 cab frame. The black window dividers are printed on, as are simulated rubber window seals and the front windscreen wiper arm and blade.

One nice feature of this is that the clamshell grab from the A920 model will fit the coupler offering additional poses if you have both models in the collection. Unlike with other manufacturers, no pin is needed to attach the bucket although frequent detachment will wear down the raised heads on the coupler.

The model is fitted with a quick coupler on the stick, allowing the bucket to be detached.

The paint finish on the model is of a high standard with door handles on the engine housing panels highlighted in black paint and the Liebherr name and machine designations authentically printed, complete with the smart grey line on the body side and the red safety markings on the counterweight.
